To complete the Variety of Text standard under the Reading catagory, I read, examined, and responded to a wide range of texts for a variety of purposes. I read some classic literature ("The Great Gatsby," "The Scarlet Letter," "Ethan Frome"), some contemporary pieces of non-fiction ("Nickel and Dimed," "Beer and Circus,"), and many blogs and magazine articles ("The Once and Future Madame," "Angry White Man," and those in my Google Reader). Some I read for entertainment, others for cultural understanding, and some for environmental, government, and global understanding. I responded to some through essays and some through journal entries and others through blog posts. All of the non-fiction and classic pieces have journals and the online or magazine articles have corresponding blog posts.
