Technology Continued II...

The Creativity and Innovation standard calls for the "use of existing knowledge to generate new ideas" and to generate the "creation of original works as a means of personal expression." I completed these catagories by writing a blog entitled "Achieving That 'Man Smell.'" I used my existing knowledge of the role men play in society to create new ideas about how a presidential candidate should campaign. This is also an original work and a way to express my personal views.

To fulfill the Communication and Collaboration standard, I "interacted, collaborated, and published with my peers employing a variety of digital environments and media" and "communicated information and ideas effectively to multiple audiences using a variety of media and formats." Our blogs and the comments on our blogs prove that my classs worked together to publish work. We also used a variety of media, from magazines to videos to newspapers to blogs, to draw ideas to write about. We did not only use blogs, though, we also used pbwiki. This proves that we used a variety of digital enivroments. Our blogs and wiki reach an infinate audience and use many medias and formats.

My first term research paper helped me complete the Critical Thinking, Problem Solving, and Decision Making standard and the Digital Citizenships standard. I identified and defined an authentic problem, the decline of American morality, and conducted investigation. I used a visual organizer to help me manage activities and reach a solution and complete the project. This organzier also helped me to complete the Creativity and Innovation standard. I used a model, the organizer, to help simulate my paper before actually writing it. It helped me explore a complex issue by organizing it so that I would not lose anything important in the vast amout of research and activity and was considering at the time. I collected and analyzed data to make informed decisions, proved by my work cited page. I also used multiple processes, first looking at the issue on my blog and then writing about the issue in a formal paper, and diverse perspectives, those of many people and those of some disagreeing with my claim, to explore alternative solutions. I also practiced safe, legal, and responsible use of information, as directed under the Digital Citizenship standard. I used a work cited page in my paper to give credit to others. I also cite works I used in my blogs.
