Each week during the second nine weeks our class wrote paragraphs using vocabulary words. These paragraphs not only helped me learn the vocab, they helped me grow as a writer and as a thinker. These paragraphs helped me fulfill the Craftmanship standard of the Writing catagory. I developed my personal style and voice. I also used the paragraphs to showcase my ability to "employ a wide range of stratagies" and my ability to use them "appropriately." My vocabulary paragraphs showcase my use of rhetroic, proper and varied sentence structure, and strong diction, thus completing the Process standard within the Writing catagory. By employing proper grammar, I also fulfilled the "apply knowledge of Standard English conventions in written work," or Conventions, standard under the Writing catagory.
The Purpose, Topics, Forms, Audiences standard within the Writing catagory calls for competency in "writing for a variety of purposes, topics and audiences employing a wide range of forms." During this year, I have written on many topics ranging from gender, to classical literature, to eradication of wildlife, to prostitution. I have also written for a variety of purposes. Some of my work has been simply to inform, like the entries on my blog, other work helped me to understand literature and the writing of others, like my Scarlett letter journals and style analysis essays, some work was simply to help my understanding and knowledge grow, like my first term research paper. My audiences vary greatly, also. I wrote the style analysis essays and argumentation essays were for an audience of extremely intelligent AP graders. I wrote my blogs to appeal to a wide audience of people and my peers. My work also took on many different forms. Some was in the form of a blog, some in the form of an essay, and some in the form of a journal.
